The First European House in Belgrade

The First European House (hereinafter: The House) is a non-governmental, non-profitable and no party association of citizens, founded in the end of the 1999. and beginning of the year 2000. in the premises of the European Movement in Serbia. The House was founded by 50 very eminent, successful and renowned citizens from the domain of culture, politics, science, art, education, etc. mostly from Belgrade and Serbia. Founding of the House was supported especially by European Movement in Serbia, Federation of European Houses of Europe (FIME) and Municipality of Chukarica, Belgrade, that offered hospitality to the House.

Basic program aims and tasks of the House can be summarized as: promotion of understanding, interrelation and cooperation, especially in the domain of cultural, scientific, educational, economic, health and other forms of association. Thanks to unselfish, mostly voluntary work of more than 150 present members of the House, it has become, already in this moment, what the registered mark of the European Association (FIME) presents – a bridge connecting citizens, regions, states, nations and a place where they all meet to get to know each other and intertwine ours and other cultures present in our near and far neighborhood, especially on the territories of this new, united Europe.

President of the House was MSc. Zivorad Kovacevic, Ambassador and former Mayor of the City of Belgrade, at the present President of the European Movement in Serbia, and his close associates (Vice-Presidents): Ph.D. Jelica Minic (Assistent The Foreign affairs Minister of Serbia & Monte Negro, Vice president of European movement of Serbia), Ph.D. Mijat Damjanovic (Director of Palgo Center, university professor), Zoran Alimpic (President of the Municipality of Chukarica, top manager in politic), Desimir Tosic, the “oldest” and very popular Serbian democrat and renowned publicist (from midl of 2001 the new President of the House),  Ph.D. Vladimir Grbić, university professor, Ph.D. Ziegfrid Gehrecke (famous scientist and professor of numerous universities – in the meantime passed very unfortunately, new  Vice-President is MSc. Dr Dragoslav Kandic, gastrologist,  top health manager, member of the inner management of the European Movement) and MSc. Stamenko Joksimovic, Secretary General, the law authorized representative Houses.

Very responsible member of management of the House during this period was Predrag – Pedja Vasiljevic, as well as experts Dragan Shiphtar and Dejan Stojadinovic (for presentations, websites, design, and the like), Jasmina Colak, Mica Jovanovic, Aleksandar Karic , Vladimir Djuknic…

In 2010. Chairman of the Presidency is MSc Dr Dragoslav Kandic, with members of the presidency: Gordana Mladenovic, top manager, Milan Knezevic, publisher, MSc Zoran Alimpic, politician, MSc Vesna Drincic, university professor  and  Dr Jasmina Savic,  social health service top manager.

Secretary General of the House was MSc. Stamenko Joksimovic, a member of the presidency by the function, adviser and project manager, member of the inner management of the European Movement and one of the most perseverant protectors of founding and achieved concept of the development of the House.

In the very leadership are: Milan Knežević, Dr Nada Vasiljevic, MSc. Bogoljub Savic, Milan Simeunovic, Borka Zivkovic, Milan Colic, MSc Branislava Brkic, Dr Jasmina Knezevic, members of the club of young Europeans – students: Mihailo Joksimovic, Stefan Vasiljevic, Sara Radjenovic, Aleksandar Vasiljevic, Filip Radjenovic, Katarina Kandic, Vladimir Brkic, as well as juveniles: Toma Joksimovic, Aleksandar Mladenovic….

The mentioned for gather from 20-50 permanent and a large number of temporary members and are held in the premises of the House (sometimes also in the premises of other supporters or sponsors). Members of each Forum are top level experts from the respective domains, who in there projects observe, discuss, research, evaluate and estimate present state and development possibilities of each of the domains they cover.

The President of the Assembly of the House now is Dragoslav Kandic. Mr. Stamenko Joksimović is the Chairman of the President, and Gordana Mladenović graduate. ing, Deputy chairman of the President.

OBJECTIVES AND TASKS

of the First European House – Chukarica (excerpt from the Statute)

  1. Promotion of understanding, mutual introducing and cooperation of people, communities and countries in the European area and fostering of a multilateral and uninhibited communication among them, primarily in the field of culture, science, information, economy, education, health, environment, social and children protection and welfare, sport, recreation etc.;
  2. Promotion of cultural, scientific, educational, economic and similar forms of linking with citizens, people, regions and countries in the Europe;
  3. Exerting an influence to the public opinion in Belgrade, Serbia and Yugoslavia to direct all the engagement towards democratic activity in a multi-party state, towards achieving an equality of people and their communities, respecting and promoting the highest widely-recognized standards within this field;
  4. Providing information to the citizens on different aspects of the European linking and uniting;
  5. Presentation of cultural and national heritage of Belgrade, Serbia and Yugoslavia to the Europe;
  6. Affirmation of national specificities, as well as the widely-recognized universal values;
  7. Promotion of ideas of law and justice, as foundation basis for preventing any form of violence;
  8. Emphasizing the significance of respecting human dignity and pointing to the danger of violating both individual and collective human rights;
  9. Creation and development of a free citizen, fully aware of his/her responsibility within a democratic order;
  10. Comprehensive consideration, fostering and development of the idea of European uniting within the context of the union of diversities, as opposed to the amorphic uniformity and nationalistic separations.

Basic form of activity of the House is permanent and intensive communication with numerous organizations and individuals in the country and abroad. The most intensive cooperation was with the European Movement in Serbia. Also, was established cooperation to Federation of European Houses of Europe in Saarbruecken (Germany), as well as NGO and fondation: Civic Initiativs, Belgrade, Forum for International Relations, Open Societi Fond, Goethe Institut in Belgrade, Konrad Adenauer, Fridrih Ebert, Chambers of Commerce, Slovak Aid and so on. It has already established very close and productive cooperation with many other European Houses in our near and far neighborhood (Vukovar, Vienna, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Budapest, Sofia, Laval, Tivat, Stuttgart, etc.) as well as with the SCENE (Association of European Houses of South East and Central Europe) was founded in the middle of 2001 in Wienna. Also, The House has cooperated with the agents of the euro-regional project the “Link Diversity”, and other similar associations in the FIME and the European Movement in Serbia.

Representatives of The House have actively participated in all previous election campaigns, as in campaigns for human rights, environmental protection and working environment, decentralization of government and local government development, improving working conditions for non-governmental organizations and so on.

In the past period under forums of The Hous has been developed Forums as a permanent form of operation: entrepreneurship, health, environmental, humanitarian, and Forum of Young Europeans. Forums bring together 20 – 50 full-time and more part-time members, and thay are held periodically, in accordance with the interests of members. Forum members are highly skilled professionals, experts in meetings or in projects under discussion, explore, assess and predict the state and development sections of society and social relations, within the purview of each individual Forum.

In cooperation with the above mentioned actors, The House prepared and finalized a large number of local and/or international projects, out of which some have become very recognizable and are organized already as a tradition in the same period of the year: (1) “European friendship” in May; (2) The Balkans Bridges toward Europe, (3) European Evenings in Belgrade – The Most European of Serbia and (4) Logistics centers for entrepreneurs, as a project supporting the establishment, development, promotion and connection of private entrepreneurship.

The long-term project called “Balkan Bridges for Europe” started immediately after the last war, with the idea for our initiative, the most appropriate and quickest way, to make opend „the bridges“ of cooperation and friendship with neighboring regions and towns.

In the past held two major events – “bridges” to Vukovar and Sarajevo, as a symbol of incomprehensible suffering of war, and a desire to be the consequences of serious consequences of the war as quickly as possible in the common interest beyond. Both meetings were held in Belgrade, at the Hotel „Sport Club“ in Trim Kosutnjak, as in the premises of the Municipality Cukarica, Belgrade City Parlament and so on. The Project implementers were the first European House in Beograde, with European houses in Vukovar and Sarajevo, then in Zagreb, Vienna and so on. Meetings lasted for several days, with a combination of mutual talks, sports competitions, cultural and artistic programs. It is jointly done, adopted and submitted to public.

In addition to these major events First European House has made a series of contacts, workshops, meetings and multiple conversations with representatives of the aforementioned European houses from the region and beyond.

„The European evenings – MostEuropeans of the year“ is now ten-year anniversary mass event. The idea of Project is to an attractive and accessible way to citizens make closer to European integrations, with its most important „pillars“: politics, economics, culture and entrepreneurship. This is accomplished through recognition of individuals who are in the current year contributed most to our country’s connection with Europe and vice versa.

Before and during the events took place in various programs of the presence of many eminent representatives of the political, cultural and economic life, the diplomatic corps, NGOs and the medias. Special attention was aroused public gala award plaques MostEuropeans of the year (on the fields: politics, culture, economics, project or program, entrepreneurship and foreign nationals temporarily working in the our country). This prestigious recognition is awarded to the most deserving individuals or organizations for the achievements in the promotion of European ideas and values, as well as creating the European environment and the realization of European standards and criteria in our country, and the affirmation of our tradition, our resources, history, culture and other quality characteristics in Europe.

The selection and promotion of MostEuropeans in the period 2000 – 2013. was held fourteen times in continuity, selected a total of 72 MostEuropeans, event in this period was supported by several dozen non-governmental and business organizations. Organization of the project is implemented The First European House in cooperation with the European Movement in Serbia, European movement in Chukarica, Municipality of Chukarica and with City of Belgrade. The realization of certain events some support was provided by the European Commission Delegation in Belgrade, Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other large organizations and bodies.

All organizational and operational tasks to prepare the Evening performing European Organizing Committee in the narrow part, which makes. Stamenko Joksimović, President, Dragoslav Kandić, Vice President, Gordana Mladenović, Vice President, Jasmina Savić, Milan Knezević, Bogoljub Savić, Vesna Drinčić, Borka Živković, Mihailo Joksimović, Philip Radjenović, Toma Joksimović, Sara Radjenović,   and Aleksandar  Mladenović.

Logistics centers for entrepreneurs is a pilot project aimed at providing quality, comprehensive, accurate and available to support the establishment of new and developing existing entrepreneurial activities (individual and group business ventures) in the Belgrade Municipality of Chukarica. Their specific project goals and objectives allows close cooperation of local NGOs, entrepreneurs and their local association, that is, local government on the promotion of the development and promotion of entrepreneurship. The applicant and his partners, as well as the other parties that provide support for the Project (business and other organizations in the municipality and beyond) have the necessary information, competent personnel and other infrastructure (space, part of the necessary equipment, etc..) for the implementation of planned activities.

The initiator of the Centre is The First European House in Belgrade. After several years of intensive preparation and coordination of the Forum of entrepreneurs of the First European House with other relevant businessmens and their organizations in Cukarica, Belgrade and Serbia established the European Center for Entrepreneurs of Serbia (hereinafter referred to as Centre) as neohodan consulting service for small and medium entrepreneurs.

Citizens Association “European Association of Entrepreneurs in the Health of Serbia“ was established in Belgrade on 28 05. 2004th. with the initiative and support of the First European House in Belgrade. which by their nature, that is non-government, non-party and non-profit. The main objective of the Association is to gather and organize the prominent representatives of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship in the Health Serbia for easier and faster realization of their common and individual interests.
